Hmmm--didn't know about that leg condition with him, though makes sense with the diabetes and such...was this about the time he really had put on wt? Or was that post coma return in the late 80s? I see the pics of him with completely grey hair and relatively blimped out, but have always assumed those are from the 90s...

He was blimping and graying before the coma. I remember seeing him at the Irvine, in '84 I think, and he looked like death warmed over. We were sure he was going to die soon. I think he looked better in the later '80s. When his hair turned white, he looked a bit like Santa Claus.

Thanks DH; I guess that fits with FB's account...as I say, I missed it. Hey--good to see you; been a while. Just don't listen to Dan Healy if my name comes up...

Jerry was indeed a BIG boy around this time frame. He was in full mode junkie state by this time (busted in GG park 3 mos. after this show), and was in a pretty bad way physically!! Around this time or shortly after is when the "Fat Man Rocks" bumper stickers started to appear everywhere.

Ah--so in fact, he was "gearing up" (?) for the coma incident in 85-86!

Damn...leaving the scene in 82, I really did miss out on the "fall from grace" (?)...I recall him looking more or less the same over my 70s period, with just some grey and some wt being put on by 82...
